Irish Premature Babies are having their official launch on the 7th of Septemeber 2010 at 11.30am in the pillar room in the Rotunda hospital, Dublin. To help create awareness of prematurity in Ireland we are also having an exhibition of 40 families highlighting their journey of having a premature baby in Ireland.
We are looking for parents throughout Ireland who are willing to share their experience of having a premature baby/babies with the media in Ireland. Irish Premature Babies will make all the necessary arrangements but we need parents to give either a phone or face interview with a journalist and tell their story of having a premature baby. Ideally we would need parents nationwide so we can really highlight what parents go through and also to increase awareness. Please contact Grace, Allison or Mandy at irishprematurebabies@gmail.com
If you would an invite to the event we would be delighted to have you there , please contact us irishprematurebabieslaunch@gmail.com
Welcome to the website of Irish Premature Babies. We are a voluntary organisation set up to support and provide information for parents who have premature babies in Ireland. All the parents within the organisation have have all had a premature baby so we understand the rollercoaster journey that ensues when your baby is born prematurely. Ireland has very little that represents or promotes the welfare of the parent of preterm babies, but we hope to change this with the formation of Irish Premature Babies.
The birth of a premature baby is an extraordinary journey that most people are truly unaware of unless they have been in that position. One day you are pregnant and looking forward to the future, and then circumstances change and you are hurled into the unfamiliar and unknown world of the Neo-natal unit. The joy that is associated with giving birth is overcome by fear, guilt, anger, loneliness and isolation. As parents who have all had preterm babies, Irish Premature Babies are here to support you in any way we can from the time you spend in the NICU to the next journey that begins when you all go home.
We hope that you will find aspects of our website useful, whether its reading other parents experiences, availing of the DISCOUNTS (CLICK HERE TO SEE ALL YOUR FREE DISCOUNTS ) we have obtained for parents or using our support network so you can have a informal chat with another parent who has gone through the same experience as well. We would love to get your feedback on the website as it’s a website for you, a parent of a premature baby.
I want to thank all the parents who have devoted their free time to help put this website together, especially to four brillant parents who are the driving force behind Irish Premature Babies. We also want to thank everybody that has given us help and who has supported us and to everybody that has contributed their experience or articles for the site. Without your help and input, this would never have come to fruition.
If you feel you would like to contribute your experience to our website, we would be delighted to include it in our "Irish Prem experiences" section. Similarly, if you would like to share a photograph of your premature baby for the front page of our website, we would only be too happy to post it, we are alternating the photographs so as many people as possible get to show off their beautiful premature baby.
