Irish Premature Babies is a nationwide Charity CHY19532, set up to provide support, information and practical help for parents who have premature babies
in Ireland. Irish Premature Babies is the only charity that supports the 4,500 plus families affected by a premature birth every year in the country. Irish Premature Babies is a 100% voluntary run Charity. The birth of a premature baby is an extraordinary journey that most people are truly unaware of unless they have been in that position. One day you are pregnant and looking forward to the future, and then circumstances change and you are hurled into the unfamiliar and unknown world of the Neo-natal unit. The joy that is associated with giving birth is overcome by fear, guilt, anger, loneliness and isolation. Irish Premature Babies are here to support you in any way we can, whenever you need us. We have a 24 hour helpline available for families, several support systems in place for you to talk to NICU veterans on one to one basis and we also run Meet & Greet sessions for families throughout the country throughout the year for families.

The charity produced a book called " Tiny Footprints". This book tells the journey of eighty parents and their experience of having a premature baby/ babies. This book is a testimony of the
difficulty faced by many parents when a baby arrives too soon, not just in the weeks post birth but also in the years that follow. We hope that this book reflects the reality of having a premature baby and also highlight some of the extraordinary little fighters that are our premature babies. The book also demonstrates the highly skilled and professional neonatal staff that look after the premature babies of Ireland every day. All the proceeds of this book will go directly towards purchasing accommodation and resource centre for parents and babies in Dublin. The book is available from our shop on the website, in Easons, and numerous bookstores throughout Ireland. The book is also available to buy on Ebay, Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com.
